Tatto Prostate Cancer

A great strides towards professionalism: Ilaria Catalani

Name?

Ilaria Catalani

Years?
20

City?

Civitavecchia (Rome)

Ilaria So, are you still studying at the School of comics, you're in the second year but seems to have launched into the professional world of comics. How did your passion for design?

say that was a bit of a natural thing ...
Since I was small I was always attracted to the arts, claiming to want to be a painter (hahaha), a dream long gone by now.
Then I became interested in the comic. In a nutshell drawing since I was little, even though I started to do 'serious' about 13 years.

What comic books and authors have most influenced you ?

are the generation of boys growing up in "bread and Manga," then we say that it is mainly directed to the Japanese authors to work.
do not have a favorite Japanese author, I can inspire many.
As for westerners, have been in love for a long time the monsters of Tim Burton. Now I am very Claire Wendling (or at least I try), Pierre-Mony Chan , Tatsuyuki Tanaka and other non-professional artists, both Western and Eastern.

What do you think of the comic strip "undervalued" in Italy ?

It 's a question that is close to my heart.
I think the biggest mistake is primarily by publishers who do not want (dare?) To risk, proposing themes always corny .. (see teenegers fashionable for girls with magical powers and "superhero" for males.)
Obviously the biggest mistake is that the public, ignorant of such things before.
The thing that makes me more furious is in fact the idea of \u200b\u200bcomic booklet = babies, ignoring how much amount of work and passion is behind each album and / or magazine.

What are the techniques that you like?

Hmm well, I still find my way, I still have many things to experience ... right now I can not really say.

You published something in spite of, so far, short career?

Unfortunately no, and I do not feel ready yet. Just a couple of years and then I'll try in every way! Promised!

future projects?

learn a lot and become a professional.

What is your dream?

Eeeew I have many ...
The biggest (and I hope you realize) is to work as a comic auteur (in France or Japan ... even if the workload of the latter country scares me.).
Telling my stories and excite people.
I want to change the language of the comic western, sometimes (in my opinion) too fast and summary.
Ensure that people affezionino the characters of my stories.

dream of working as a character designer for video games produced by famous companies.
So I'm not listing all my dreams, partly because most never finish.

Bazilian Wax With Hemmroids

writing and creating the court of the Disney ... Giorgio Salati

Name?

Giorgio Salati

Years?

30

City ?

Milan

Hello George, we want to explain how and when did your passion for comics?

E 'was born at a very early age, so that I can not remember the beginning. My Mickey already bought my brother before I was born, and those I learned to read. A lot of my "goodwill" to the passion I have the comics and then to my father, who already was a fan, in particular Barks, Asterix, Schulz, Jacovitti ... On these comics I raised my passion, later moving to Bonelli in adolescence. But during that time I also began to get interested in music and literature. It 's so that the end of adolescence gave up a bit' comics to devote more of something else. During this time "post-maturity," became interested in writing seriously, attending courses in creative writing and screenplay. After a while, 'but I realized that the comic was much more knowledgeable than in any other field of writing, so I decided to enroll in the screenwriting course at the School of Comics in Milan, where I met the teacher - now a colleague and friend - Riccardo Secchi, who with a mixture of passion, skill and discipline taught me the foundations for a beautiful job. I was 23 years and a lot of energy! At that time I began to read many comic books, discovering what I had lost: as regards the Italian Disney, PKNA, MMMM, Mickey Noir. Then Calvin & Hobbes, Frank Miller, Alan Moore ... This is now one of my main models in terms of narrative.

How did you find "Disney world"?

When I enrolled at the School of comics my main goal was to someday write for Mister No, but it has now closed! In adolescence was certainly my favorite comic. Proceeding with the course, however, Secchi told me I was led to write to Disney, especially a tendency in the use of witty dialogue. Then I got an e-mail (do not say how!) An editor of Mickey Mouse, David Bolt (aspiring authors you read, do not ask, I'm not allowed to give it to you!). I sent him what he thought was a good loot: a decade of work between individuals, boards and episodic scripts. Catenacci called me, and summarizes the gist of his speech was: "Ok, you can write to Disney, you see now to send a subject that goes well." After the hard work I had done for the material that I sent was a bit 'a shot, but I do not lose heart and I went to work.
result was the subject of my first story published, "the reconquest of Donald Duck." On that occasion I also remember that bolts to make me an example of how should be a structured series of episodic, said the first title that came to mind: "Foo the sea." So I decided to just write a series of "Goofy the sea" to show that I had enough imagination to write anything, I was able to meet editorial requirements without however giving up creativity and personal style. In short, in a nutshell ... I wanted to work and you could see! Was That's how I was adopted my first works. When I signed the contract with Disney was the summer of 2003, I was still 24 years. It was the classic wish come true.

(In the photo below a story about George, "Commissioner of mice: missing section," published in Topolino num. Edisegnata 2803 by Francesco D'Ippolito, ed)

For what Disney heads work?

Mainly Mickey, but I had the joy of seeing many of my stories published in several foreign newspapers Disney: throughout Europe and Northern Europe, then France, Greece, Brazil, and soon even the United States. Another wish come true, so. But Disney is not the only one to have you as sceneggiatore. In past I was able to co-write several stories for the now-defunct magazine New Ort, published by supermarkets supermarkets. I recently scripted the comic Huntik four numbers published by Rainbow, on sale in recent months. A table designed by my good Emanuele Tenderini was published in the journal Mono n.6 (still affordable online publisher's site Tunuè) alongside major names like Alfredo Castelli, Vittorio Giardino (throw me a lot to this fact! ). Outside of comics in the past I have published some short stories, I have participated as author to a number of workshops, cabaret, and since 2005 also works with the Enigmistica week. Other articles of the script at this moment in my mind, I should go check on my resume!

(Another story written by George entitled "Donald Duck and discomfort sqillante" designed by Luciano Milan and published in Issue 2797 of Mickey Mouse, ed )

Another your passion is music, right?

Yes, we say that the music for me is like oxygen. I started playing about nine years. My main instruments are voice and guitar. My main group is called KickStart, a trio, doing some covers and original songs. You can hear someone here: http://www.myspace.com/kickstartitaly . The genre is hard rock with several influences "seventies". Then hand in Salty Bros, we are an acoustic duo, we all rock songs 60s and 70s, well ... hippie stuff! You can find us here: http://www.myspace.com/saltybros . As you can see even from the name, it's me and my brother. Then I also dj rock, and I have several other projects ... You can follow my various musical activities here: http://www.myspace.com/joesaltymusic .

personal projects that you will succeed soon?

As for the music, with KickStart we are working on new songs and hope to not be too long to record a new album. With Salty Bros instead will play Sunday, Sept. 20 at the cocktail hour VIOLET, Park Beyond Milano, Segrate. As for my work as a writer-writer I have several projects which are waiting for answers, so for now they are top-secret ... But when I have some news you'll know in the preview!

Your dream?

Given that - as already mentioned - some I've already made, there remain many others. Able for example to publish the album distributed well, sound a bit 'abroad. In the field of writing I'd like to become an established author, not only for Disney (which remains my first love) but also with other comics, both serial and possibly my own graphic novels, then you can write for animation, fiction, cinema ... But above all, in particular, have a dream: to write, compose and perform a musical. And I say this with knowledge of the facts: a subject for the history I already have, and some music I've already made. Who knows if sooner or later I will succeed ...

George: "I thank " We are the world " for this interview, I wish the best to you and to your readers, and especially invite you to read my stories, listen to my songs , and visit me on my blog http://www.giorgiosalati.blogspot.com/ !
